More work in progress...
Doing a comission based on the RAF target symbol, will add the wings at some point. Also doing another round one, possibly going to incorporate gold leaf somehow. Anyway, won't be doing anything creative this weekend, except road cycling, maybe going to Burnham for the BMX National and drinking beer. Hope you enjoy your Bank Holiday too!

Busy in the workshop...
Alot's been happening lately, hence not much has been happening on my blog, (need to work on that). Students are finally realising this academic year is nearly over. The Hereford Final shows begin Friday 12th June. Mean's the workshop's been nice and busy and people are coming out of the woodwork, so to speak. I've been photographing some of my work. Here's a few that I'm really pleased with. g.

Beer on it's way...
Forty pints brewing under the bathroom sink. Last time I tried to make beer, it went horribly wrong; fingers crossed it will work and we'll be able to drink it by the end of May. The beer kit is made by Muntons from Suffolk.

Beer and Bluebells
Last weekend, Jo and I went to Knightwick to walk up to Ankerdine Common. It was a beautiful day and we were lucky enough to see the bluebells in all their glory. We finished off the walk with a couple of pints at one of our favourite pubs, The Talbot. The beer, we were drinking, is called 'This' and it's brewed by the Teme Valley Brewery, it's delicious and smelt of fresh green hops. I'm intending on brewing some more beer at home, only from a kit, but better than nothing.

Finished Another One.
Made two more of these this week. Really pleased with the results. It's made from pine again and the small house is made from Sycamore. Exchanged one for a pot for the garden, made by my fellow technical demonstrator, Stephen Bourke. When the pot's been finished and fired I'll post a picture of it in situ.

Finished!
Been meaning to finish this for ages now. Somebody, (you know who you are,) visited the workshop yesterday and insisted that I did. So here you go...thanks for the encouragement!

Guerilla Miffy
We love Miffy. So much so, Jo and I visited the Dick Bruna Museum on our Netherlands holiday last year. Dick Bruna manages to distill objects into their simplest form. Using the fewest colours and lines he is able to convey emotions and feelings, most interestingly, without changing the facial expression on his characters. A kitchen showroom near our house contains a small selection of Lego in its window for kids to play with; I guess it's there to keep them occupied whilst their parents are planning their next big purchase. Until recently, there lay amongst the sticky bricks, a dog eared version of 'Miffy goes to the Zoo' . We had discussed how nice it was, that the book was obviously read, as it increasingly began to look worse for wear. Anyway it eventually disappeared, (thrown away?). We decided to track down another copy and replace it. Well here's 'Miffy's Birthday', obtained from a Hereford Charity shop for 15pence. We're going to drop it through the showroom letterbox soon, under the cover of darkness...wonder what they'll say?
